What Can I Expect During a Treatment?

Preventative Phase: Preventative maintenance is to correct any subsequent misalignments as a result of the initial diagnosis or due to new issues.  Patients who have regularly undergone treatments, or who undergo treatment for maintenance, will learn to recognize when a part of their body has fallen out of alignment and an adjustment is needed (for example, due to activities such a gardening, working out, or sleeping in certain positions).

Contraindications
There are some conditions which are contraindicated in Chiropractic work, especially if there are warning signs of insufficient blood flow to the brain, or sometimes specifically for chiropractic manipulation of the neck.  These include:

- Bone fractures/dislocations
- Inflammatory diseases
- Bone or joint infections
- Myelopathy (gradual loss of nerve function caused by disorders of the spine)
- Spinal cord compression
- Certain tumors

Your chiropractor will discuss these conditions with you and, if necessary, refer you to other medical practitioners.
