Chromatherapy

Chromatherapy Methods

Chromatheraphy treatments normally take place on a massage table or therapy bed. The chromatherapy equipment used is dependent on the method chosen by the practitioner.

Methods of applying the use of color for healing include:

Crystals

Quartz crystals are suspended above the body with their points directly over the seven chakras. Each chakra is bathed in colored light, with the quartz crystals acting as a laser to focus and amplify the energy intothe chakra. Light can be focused through quartz crystals using various devices and color filters such as "light pens" (pen-type device that switches on and off, shining light through various color filters and out of a quartz tip).

Colorpuncture (also known as acucolor)
Developed most notably by Dr. Peter Mandel, a German acupuncturist, colorpuncture involves the use of color and light transmitted through the acupuncture points (acupoints) and into the energy meridian network and into the organs, cells and the brain. It uses a special torch, into which colored rods of quartz lights are inserted to transmit colors to the organs and bodily systems that are out of balance. It is gentle, painless and non-invasive. Kiriian photographyA system of photography founded by Semyon and Valentina Kirlian in 1939 which photographs the energy pattern or "aura" of humans, plants and animals is usually the tool used to diagnose the condition of the patient and determine which colors need to be applied and to where, and also for confirmation of the effectiveness of the treatment.

Color Zone Therapy

Developed by Pauline Wills, Color Zone therapy has evolved from a combination of reflexology and chromatherapy. Pauline has authored several books, including Reflexology and Color Therapy. Color Zone therapy involves the use of color on the reflexology zones of the body to treat bodily systems and organs related to each zone.

Elixirs/Oils

These can be applied directly to the skin or combined with massage oil, body or bath oil to infuse the body with their vibration.

Light BoxCrystal Wands & Prisms
Wands of various colours are used to focus and amplify colors on a specific area on the body. Quartz is a powerful amplifying crystal, and is commonly used during meditation and while doing energy work to absorb and amplify surrounding vibrations, including light.

Quartz crystals can transmit and receive, amplify, focus, project and store energies, and for this reason are used in devices such as watches, radar, sonar, and television devices.

Hydrotheraphy
Manufacturers of spas, swimming pools and baths incorporate the use of chromatherapy. Using various colors or a combination of colors, these baths combine the use of colored lights wth water to heighten the therapeutic effect. Medical/physical therapy facilities may also combine the use of color with hydrotherapy to heighten the therapeutic effect.

Light BoxLight Box
A light box and colored filters are commonly used by practitioners, available for purchase from select distributors.  Like the sun, a light box can emulate essential full spectrum light, but with much more accuracy since specific points and areas can receive different color frequencies as needed. This is especially effective for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)SAD is caused by a lack of exposure to sunlight and shorter daylight hours which causes depression and excessive sleepliness.

The light box pictured is available from the Color Therapy Healing Store.

Some of these therapies are offered at medical spas and retreats focused on health and wellness.  Some can also be self administered very easily.
