What Can I Expect During a Treatment?
A session with an Energy Psychologist is a unique experience which promises to be quite unusual.
Sessions are conducted fully clothed. The Energy Psychologist will often begin by conducting an "energy check" of the body. This may involve techniques such as manual muscle testing and/or "tuning in" to sense energetic interference.
The goals of the sessions are then clearly identified. This can range from wanting to be free from habits such as smoking, drinking, or overeating, to releasing emotions that have become crippling such as anger, guilt, shame, grief, sadness, and stress. Perhaps a phobia or obsessive compulsive disorder needs to be treated, or continual procrastination needs to be overcome.
Energy Psychology is not just limited to treating emotional or psychological imbalances. It can also be used to help you increase memory, mental clarity, reach peak performance, and simply be the best that you can be.
Once the goals have been identified, and the energetic system checked, the Energy Psychologist then determines the cause of the energy blockages. Based on this information, specific techniques are used to release these blockages.
Children often respond faster than adults to Energy Psychology as they are much more open and accepting to the techniques. Using muscle testing techniques, Energy Psychology can also be successfully used on infants and animals.
Energy Blockages - Determining the Cause
The most common technique to determine the cause of energy blockages is for the Energy Psychologist to use a modified form of Kinesiology (manual muscle testing). This involves asking the body specific questions while you hold out either arm straight out to your side and parallel to the shoulder (other muscle groups may be used, however the arm is the most commonly used). Specific questions are asked while downward pressure is applied to the wrist area of the arm by the Energy Psychologist. A truthful answer will be reflected by little to no downward movement in the arm. The arm will not yield to pressure. An false answer will cause the strength of the arm to fail and it will fall significantly. This truth/false cannot be "faked" - the body will naturally respond to what is inherrently true or false for itself.
When beginning this testing, the Energy Psychologist will ask you to repeat simple statements out loud to test your muscle strength, such as "my name is charles" followed by "my name is not charles" - the body will respond appropriately by the arm holding stiff, or falling. Questions are then asked to determine which core issues are creating the current emotional distress. The response of the body is often viewed in amazement by the patient who watches their arm respond automatically without any conscious control from them at all.
A unique form of Kinesiology, manual muscle testing is most commonly used to detect and diagnose energy imbalance. This or a variety of other techniques can discern which energy meridians are out of balance and which energy meridian points to tap. Muscle testing requires significant practice to become skillful.
Other common techniques for diagnosis and treating include:
1. Kinesiology (muscle testing)
2. Tapas Pressure Technique (TAT)
3. Thought Field Therapy (TFT)
4. Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET)
5. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

A Typical Session
After your energy has been assessed, and the goals of the session have been determined, a treatment sequence follows which is typically based on the following framework:
1. The patient thinks about the situation that is the cause of distress, e.g. a fear of insects, and then rates this fear on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 indicating the highest level of stress.
2.
Any psychological reversal will be detected and clearned a simple method. Immediately after the reversal is complete, the energy treatment begins. Depending on the fear, or emotional distress, a "treatment sequence" is followed.
3. you will be guided to "tap" on specific acupressure points (acupoints) on the upper body while repeating phrases related to the emotional distress. Each acupoint relates to systems and organs of the body, and to various emotional distresses.
4. The patient repeats step 2 and again rates the fear on a scale of 1 to 10. If there is no decrease in number, steps 2 and 3 are repeated.
5. A "brain balancing sequence" is then completed which involves various eye movements, humming, and counting while tapping on an energy point.
The entire treatment sequence is then repeated

During or at the end of the session, testing will be done to ensure that the energy blockages have been released which were originally tested as blocked/imbalanced.
The number of sessions depends on the nature of the problem(s) and how deep-seated their effect on the body. An average number of sessions required ranges from 10-60.
At the onset, sessions are normally weekly or bi-weekly with "homework" involving using specific techniques at home to heighten the effect of the session. This can be loosely compared to chiropractic work which involves repeated sessions to create "muscle memory" and instill permanent correction. A situation or trauma which has occurred in the past will often not involve as many sessions than if the situation causing the imbalance is chronic/ongoing and being repeatedly dealt with on a daily basis.
At the beginning of each session, progress is discussed and the energy flow of the body is rechecked to identify any residual/new energetic imbalances.
Homework
Often, you will be given homework to practice on a daily basis to strengthen the effects of each session. Homework can range from tapping techniques (tapping various acupressure points on the body while repeating specific statements) to free-form writing. During free-form writing, the problem causing the distress is writen down on paper. Any words that come into your mind are then written down in the form of free-flowing writing. No control or judgment is placed on what comes out. The words will often be random and appear unassociated with the original problem. Thoughts and feelings may emerge as different words are written. Sometimes, words flow so fast that it's difficult to keep up with writing them down. This technique works by bringing up and out of your consciousness. It is recommended to continue writing until the process feels complete - this may take an hour, it may take longer. When the writing session is complete, the emotional charge behind the original problem willl have been reduced or "dulled." After the session is complete, destroy the piece of paper by tearing, shredding it or burning it, which also releases you from their vibration. After finishing the free-form writing, focus on love-based emotions such as love, peace, relief, happiness, and gratitude. These emotions will replace the space which was previously filled with charge of the original negative emotions. Repeating this process on a daily basis will continue to diffuse the emotions until they no longer hold any power over you.
Dehydration can often cause inconsistent results, therefore making simple statements and gauging how the body responds helps the Energy Therapist determine any inconsistencies in the answers. Immediately drinking water can rectify such inconsistencies within moments.
