Homeopathy as a Career
In the United States, training in Homeopathy is offered through diploma programs, certificate programs, short courses, and correspondence courses. Homeopathic training is also sometimes offered as part of an Alternative Medicine curriculum which includes other alternative therapies, e.g. Naturopathy and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
As the field of traditional medicine becomes more open-minded, medical doctors are becoming more willing to refer patients for alternative therapies such as Homeopathic medicine. Some medical doctors undertake Homeopathy as postgraduate training which enables them to use the official title "Homeopathic Doctor."
Health insurance companies are also becoming more willing to cover the cost of alternative therapies. With the rising cost of healthcare around the United States, the low cost of Homeopathic treatments is also a motivating factor of patients seeking alternative therapies.
Homeopathic Certification & Licensing
Depending on which country you are located in, choose to be certified by a nationally recognized body.
In the U. S., the Council for Homeopathic Certification requires that Homeopaths have:
1. completed formal education at Homeopathic schools and seminars,
2. completed an apprenticeship with an experienced, certified Homeopath,
3. have been engaged in professional practice for a mininum of 4 years,
4. complete an extensive written examination process, and
5. complete an oral interview.
In the U. K., the Society of Homeopaths is the largest organization of registered Homeopaths and provides guidelines for member requirements.
In Australia, the Australian Register of Homeopaths (AROH) accredits various educational facilities in the study of Homeopathic medicine. Once education is completed, students may then take the AROH assessment test and become a member of the AROH. the Australian Homeopathic Association is the largest national association of professional Homeopaths in Australia and requires its members to be registered with the AROH.

Average Length of Study
Length of study ranges depending on the level of education chosen. Professional Homeopathic degree courses average 3-4 years of study. Introductory courses are available for those considering Homeopathy. Certificate programs are also available for medical professionals who have completed undergraduate courses from accredited educational facilities and who wish to complete postgraduate training in Homeopathy.
