Homeopathy

Choosing a Qualified Practitioner

Although several countries have established guidelines to officially regulate the dispensing of Homeopathic remedies, the practice of Homeopathy is not officially regulated.

There are a number of profit and non-profit organizations worldwide which have been formed in an attempt to set standards of competency and to certify individuals in the practice of Homeopathy.

The following are questions to ask in identifying how qualified and reliable a therapist is:

1. Ask the Homeopath how many years of training they've had, and how long they've been practicing.

2. Ask if they have treated people with your condition before, and for details on how the treatments progressed.

3. Ask if they have indemnity insurance (to cover them, and you, if anything happens).

4. Depending on which country you are located in, ask if they are certified by a nationally recognized body. In the U. S., the Council for Homeopathic Certification requires Homeopaths to have completed formal education at Homeopathic schools and seminars, completed an apprenticeship with an experienced, certified Homeopath, have been engaged in professional practice for a mininum of 4 years, complete extensive examination process, and complete an oral interview.

Other U. S. agencies include the following:

American Association of Homeopathy
North American Associations of Homeopaths
Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians

In the U.K., the Society of Homeopaths is the largest organization of registered Homeopaths. The National Health Service (NHS) also operates several Homeopathic hospitals throughout the U.K.

In Australia, the Australian Homeopathic Association is the largest national association of professional Homeopaths.
