HomeopathyHow What Can I Expect During a Treatment
Homeopathic treatments are very individualized, tailored specifically to each person. The first session is generally a lengthy examination which involves an in-depth assessment of the patient. This assessment will explore not only the symptoms of the illness or disease, but also lifestyle, nutrition, emotional and mental states, living conditions and other factors. The Homeopath then translates the characteristics of the symptoms into an appropriate remedy (or multiple remedies) by referring to a Homeopathic encyclopedia or “ known as the "materia medicaLatin for "materials of medicine," a materia medica is a reference book providing a list of symptoms and corresponding Homeopathic remedies” as a reference. Remedies are selected which most closely match the symptom totality, known as the "symptom picture" of the patient.
This individualized approach to Homeopathy explains why different people with the same symptoms may receive different Homeopathic remedies.
Symptoms will be discussed in detail as the specific variations of a health issue help determine which remedy is required. For example, headaches vary in their location and their symptoms. A sinus pressure headache may be treated differently from a headache which causes throbbing in the temples.
The remedy (or remedies) and their correct potency will be prescribed, along with recommendations of where these remedies can be purchased.
