Original Assessment:
Complete loss of function in all limbs. Unable to walk or support her weight. Urinary and fecal incontinent.
Neurological deficits. All four limbs stiff and resistant to flexion. Mild atrophy of the right rear limb. Excessive muscle tightening of the triceps, trapezius, semimembranosus, semitendinosus and brachiocephalicus muscles. Heat / inflammation was present at C1-T3. Pain was evident at the surgical sight. Many chiropractic fixations.
Treatment Overview:
Surgery prior to presentation by referring veterinarian to stabilize the cervical vertebral column. TOPS Vet Rehab treatment: acupuncture, animal chiropractic, hydro-treadmill, therapeutic ultrasound, neuromuscular stimulation, massage, passive range of motion, cryo therapy, heat therapy, strengthening and ambulation exercises, and carpal braces.
Treatment Results:
Von Willebrands was subsequently diagnosed. She currently has near normal movement and function in all four limbs. Walking and trotting.
